I'd always had an inkling that I was enjoying films in a different way to my friends.
In high school, my music teacher - Mr Hayter (great teacher name) really loved films. He would spend the odd lesson going through classics such as 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day', teaching us that the details of the costumes, props, sound effects and music were not happy accidents but decided upon very specifically and artfully (at least most of the time). However, it was watching Gandalf fall from the bridge of Khazad-dûm in 'The Fellowship of the Ring' that sealed the deal. It was just so heart-wrenchingly awesome that I knew I had to be a filmmaker.
Why did I want to start Park District? I wanted an extra level of creative freedom, to have fun and enjoy making the kind of content I couldn't make elsewhere. It's been a blast so far and may it continue blasting all the way into the future.
I'm as passionate about video games as I am about films. That started when my older brother got a Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas when I was six or seven. Jumping through levels as the manoeuvrable Italian Plumber in Super Mario Bros was just the start. The Legend of Zelda; Donkey Kong, Goldeneye, Metroid, Halo, Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid, The Elder Scrolls, Grand Theft Auto and Journey are just some of the games that have certainly had a profound effect on my childhood and now on my adulthood. #gamer4life yo.
I also play the piano. Just saying.
